Argentina to Roll Out Digital Identity for Citizens Built on zkSync Era

Argentina Capital City Buenos Aires will roll out a blockchain-based and open-source digital identity protocol, QuarkID. Citizens will use this digital identity to claim essential personal documents such as birth and marriage certificates, academic attendance certificates, and etc.

While the platform functionality will initially be limited, the Buenos Aires government is planning a phased introduction of more services on the platform.

QuarkID project collaborates with on-chain digital identity solutions firm Extrimian and Matte Labs, the company developing zkSync Era. zkSync Era serves as the settlement layer of the QuarkID platform, ensuring proper ownership of stored documents.
