Aztec Launches Local Developer Testnet Called Aztec Sandbox

Privacy-focused Ethereum Layer2 network Aztec announced the launch of Aztec Sandbox, a local developer testnet aiming to provide a local development system for building and testing Aztec smart contracts in a fast, safe, and free environment.

According to Aztec, the Sandbox is the first major step on its development roadmap and "the most ambitious software release in Aztec Labs history". Aztec Sandbox provides developers with a fast, lightweight local Aztec node, with features similar to Ethereum's Ganache or Anvil local node packages. In addition, the testnet includes tools and frameworks that allow developers to write and test smart contracts.
