Ocean Mining, a new decentralized mining pool, confirmed that it would censor Ordinal inscriptions. Ocean's co-founder and Bitcoin Core maintainer, Luke DashJr, said yesterday that he thinks inscriptions are exploiting a vulnerability in Bitcoin Core to spam the blockchain. He said that the bug was fixed in the script his company is now running, Knots v25.1.
The company said:" as a result, our blocks will now include many more real transactions and help to bring an end to the DoS attack being performed on the Bitcoin network."
Ordinals has spawned a heated debate in the Bitcoin community as it caused the blockchain suffers transaction congestion. Transaction fees on Bitcoin network increased significantly, skyrocketing to over $10 in the past few days.
