ConsenSys Clarifies MetaMask Service Terms Update, No Withholding Tax on Crypto Transactions

ConsenSys tweeted to clarify inaccurate interpretation regarding its service terms and confirmed that MetaMask does not impose withholding taxes on cryptocurrency transactions. ConsenSys aims to make Web3 more accessible and easier to use by providing product suites. The mentioned tax terms only apply to products and paid plans that require sales tax payments provided by ConsenSys, not for MetaMask or other products that do not require sales tax payments.

MetaMask updated its service terms last week, which requires users to accept the new terms upon logging in to continue using the service. One of the new terms regarding taxes caused concern among users, stating that "MetaMask reserves the right to withhold taxes".
