Dec.29 as Deadline for Spot Bitcoin ETF Updates, Bloomberg Analysts Anticipate Approval by Jan. 10

The U.S. SEC has set a deadline for spot Bitcoin ETF applicants to file final S-1 amendments by Dec.29. The SEC officials have met with representatives from BlackRock, Grayscale, ARK Invest and 21 Shares on Dec.21 and is now hoping to launch spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024.

Exchanges representatives from Nasdaq and the Chicago Board Options Exchange also joined the meeting.

The regulator has told applicants in the meeting that any issuer that doesn't meet the Dec.29 deadline will not be part of a first wave of potential spot Bitcoin ETF approvals in early January.

Bloomberg analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas anticipate that the U.S. SEC will approve a spot Bitcoin ETF by Jan. 10 2024.
