European Commission to Expand Additional Sanctions Against Russia, including Crypto Sector

The European Commission said that crypto assets will fall under additional sanctions targeted against Russia in response to the military conflict in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee is set to hold a vote on March 14 on the European Commission's regulatory framework for crypto assets. This comes after the committee announced in February that it would remove several Russian banks from the SWIFT cross-border payments network, but did not specify at the time how it would deal with crypto.
