Lookonchain: US Govt Moved 9,825 Bitcoin, Most to Whale Wallets Dormant for 2 Years

According to Lookonchain, the US government transferred out 9,825 Bitcoin related to Silk Road yesterday, which is worth close to $300 million.

8,200 Bitcoin was sent to a new wallet 361yogPsa, which then sent all these Bitcoin in 101 transactions to 8 whale wallets that had been dormant for 2 years. The other 1,625 Bitcoin was sent to another two new wallets, bc1qpg8e and bc1q77n0.

Silk Road, the first crypto-powered dark market, was shut down in 2013 after the arrest of its founder, Ross Ulbricht. The US government seized 173,991 Bitcoin at the time. In March 2023, the US government sent 9,861 Bitcoin to Coinbase. Currently, the government still controls over 194,000 Bitcoin.
