SBF Didn't Respond to US Senate Banking Committee's Demand That He Testify

Sherrod Brown, chairman of the US Senate Banking Committee, said in a statement issued late Thursday that SBF did not respond to the committee's demand that he testify at the hearing next week. This could result in a subpoena.

On Wednesday, Sherrod Brown wrote a letter to SBF, requesting him to appear at the hearing on December 14th. He also asked SBF to respond before 5pm on December 8th. In the letter he said, "If you chose not to appear, I am prepared, along with Ranking Member Pat Toomey, to issue a subpoena to compel your testimony."

In his latest statement, Sherrod Brown said, "Sam Bankman-Fried's counsel did not respond by the stated deadline. We believe it's important that Bankman-Fried show he is willing to provide transparency and accountability to the American people by providing testimony. We will continue to work on having him appear before Congress as detailed in Wednesday's letter."
